Abigail's Story
Soon after Abigail was born I was diagnosed with colon cancer due to a rare genetic mutation. Since it was genetic there was a 50/50 chance my children would inherit the disease. Abigail was diagnosed with FAP when she was 18 months old. She had to have testing done once a year until she was 5 to check for hepatoblastoma. Thankfully those tests were always clear. At 8 she began doing EGDs and a colonoscopy every 6 months. Soon after those tests started she started having severe chronic stomach aches. Abigail's disease has progressed to the point where she now needs surgery. The first surgery will be done within the next couple of months, and will be a total Colectomy.
