Caleb's Story

Biography: Caleb was "normal" til age 18 months. He had a febrile seizure, reacted to medicine he was given, and stopped breathing.  He was without oxygen and heart beat for 12 minutes.
We were in the PICU for 3 weeks. After 2 weeks they took him off the ventilator, and he started breathing on his own. When we were going to take him home they told me he would be a vegetable. He didn't respond to touch or pain. He was deaf, blind, and didn't swallow at all.

We have done lots of therapy and lots of prayer. He now sees some, hears normally, and responds to touch. He can be calmed down by rocking. He cries tears when in pain. He came home on a dozen meds but we are down to only 1 for epilepsy. He has a dislocated hip, low immune system and is a quadriplegic. I am waiting for him to look at me and smile again. Before his injury he loved football, trains, trucks, and fishing. I pray some day he will again.
Thanks for the opportunity to present my son to you.
Thank you for the Love Quilt..... Jackie and Caleb
